Today Paper + Plastick Records has announced a new joint comic book and music venture that it is calling “Story/Song.” The project will involve a newly recorded version of an existing song from an artist or band and a 12-page graphic novel to accompany it.
The 12-page story will be based on the song at hand, and each story will be self-contained, although there may be recurring characters at times. The graphic novels will be available for download along with the new, exclusive versions of the songs in the Paper + Plastick webstore.
The first installation of “Story/Song” will be with Tony Sly and Matt Anderson will write the script. Anderson, who has worked with Paper + Plastick previously on the “50 States” webcomic series, describes “Story/Song” as “the reverse of compiling a soundtrack for a movie.”
PERFECT TEETH “Perfect Match”
As a lead up to the story that answers the question, Who is Nathan Almost? – you are invited to get an insider’s look at the career of human musician, Nick Payne, who many call the “real reason” monsters were able to rocket to stardom!
In today’s world, basically everything is debatable. Constantly there are debates about music, politics, religion, college football, burritos, and nearly everything else. What’s the one thing that’s not debatable? The enormously grand popularity of vampires. Yes, you read that right.
So when a major record label decides to sign a band comprised of vampires for its next big thing, a slew of other majors step up to the plate as well – signing bands consisting of zombies, werewolves, and any other creatures you can think of.
Such is the world of PERFECT TEETH.
In the world we live, Stephen Egerton, Jon Snodgrass, and Vinnie Fiorello conceptualized the song to match the band PERFECT TEETH. Lyrically, it swings between reasons to move on to a place where it is always is dark, so he can be together with his would-be girlfriend at all hours of the day and night.

Death just likes to hang around…
While lately I’ve been battling nostalgia (and largely winning), for some reason I STILL own this little wind-up grim reaper - which I got around Halloween in 1998.
I’ve no idea why I haven’t either accidentally lost it OR purposely thrown it out by now.
I’ve never been good when it comes to blogging, but I’m here to give it another try.
My intention is to use this place as a hub for all the information on the comics I’m writing and other projects that I’m working on.
I also (finally!) created a Twitter account. If you’re interested, you can follow me @falsestartmatt
And just for the heck of it, here’s a cartoon picture of me (drawn by Matt Jordan):
